Biography

CHRISTIAN BERGMANS, DIRECTOR

After founding FlashLight Pictures in 1996, Christian and his film company have gone on to produce several short films, including "Roadkill," "BunkBeds," and "The Passage." "Ratstar" is his first feature production.

Skits!

What is a skit? You have a few hours to kill. A video camera. A couple of overzealous friends. And a blank tape. Enter: the creation of the skit. Another pastime. A way of spending time between projects. A way of relaxing. Self entertainment. We tread downtime between our movie projects by skitting on nearly a weekly basis. We get together with our friends and do completely improvised skits on video. We edit them in-camera -- recording the skit in chronological order, in essence editing it together as we go along. After a few hours of screwing around, we have a short movie (usually about five minutes or so) that we can pop right in the VCR and watch. Skits free of us of technical inhibitions, so we never have to worry about lighting or sound or anything else -- and we can just have fun! The Result: SCENES FROM A SUBURBAN BASEMENT and THE MANGOLD FILES!

Movies

We hope you'll enjoy our library of movies. Click a title to the right to find a brief synopsis of each film as well as some more detail. We also have several scripts in the works. Two of which happen to be science fiction horror comedies ... one of our favorite genres! The other is a collaboration between us a few friends that will combine several short stories into one feature length film connected by a common cast.

Contact

Hey, drop us a line! We'd like to hear your instantaneous comments or words of wisdom. Soon we will also have a post office box address available for letters, submissions, and movie ordering. At present, this is all still under construction, but our blog is now open and ready for comments. Please give it a whirl if you have any suggestions or would just like to tell us what you think!

To contact myself or FlashLight Pictures, please feel free to email me at chrisvid1@hotmail.com.

Welcome to FlashLight Pictures...

FlashLight Pictures is an independent film team founded by Christian Bergmans and Eric Martens in 1996. Portland Oregon currently has one of the fastest growing independent film communities in the Western United States, and we are proud to be here making films in the Northwest. We hope that you will take time to inquire more about us, tell your friends about us, and we hope you enjoy our work!

This blog will contain a few words on a handful of our movie projects: "The Passage", "RoadKill", and "BunkBeds". All three are half hour film shorts and will soon be available on this site. Also available soon will be some sights and sounds from our most recent project, the feature length sci-fi "RatStar". The remaining sections are dedicated to our sketch comedy skit show "Scenes From A Suburban Basement" that now runs in syndication on local cable access channels. Please roam around and enjoy the site. Let us know what you think!
